One of the most popular destinations of the moment is Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.  Where the hottest holiday choice is the fast growing resort of Playa Blanca – or White beach – which is located right at the southern foot of the island.

Lanzarote has been a popular holiday destination for many years but Playa Blanca has only started to come into its own more recently. As the resort was developed long after Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise to the north.  And visitors here will find that the amenities and facilities are all much newer as a result.  With a fine selection of beaches, restaurants and hotels available.

Playa Blanca is a forty minute drive from the main airport of Arrecife and sits just across a stretch of water called the Bocaina Straits from the neighbouring island of Fuerteventura.  Holidaymakers can take a ferry service which runs regularly from the harbour area if they would like to visit Lanzarote´s closest neighbour.

Holiday accommodation in the resort is split pretty evenly between self catering properties and hotels.  The villas in Playa Blanca are amongst the best on the island and also offer excellent value for money.  With rental rates starting at about €500 per week.  Whilst there are also some of the most popular hotels in Lanzarote located along the shoreline here.  Such as the Timanfaya Palace and the Princessa Yaiza.

The cost of flights to Lanzarote has also dropped considerably in recent months so there´s really never been abetter time to visit this popular holiday island, which is just a short hop from the African mainland.

Visitors to Playa Blanca should take a stroll around the relatively new Rubicon Marina, which has been open since 2003.  And which plays host to a large selection of luxury yachts from around the world.  Eating out is also a real pleasure here as there are some great restaurants arrayed around the quayside.  As well as branch of the famous Cafe del Mar chain for those who want to party into the early hours.  Shopaholics will also love the marina as it is home to a good selection of upmarket shops.
